The Emily Program Ohio

The Emily Program is a CARF-accredited eating disorder treatment facility. It provides adults and adolescents with individualized care through evidence-based programming and holistic modalities. In addition to treating clients with eating disorders, there are also programs that focus on substance abuse, trauma recovery and LGBTQ support. The residential program out of Cleveland, Ohio offers adults group and individual therapy, integrative interventions, dual diagnosis support and medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Accommodations and Food

The restored mansion where clients stay during their inpatient treatment is a multi-level five bedroom, six bathroom home set in a quiet residential neighborhood. It’s in close proximity to Lake Erie overlooking University Circle. Both men and women sleep under the same roof but on different sides of the residence and don’t share bathrooms. Each of the bedrooms are double occupancy and fully furnished with full beds, dressers and closet space.

The accommodations are elegant and upscale with beautiful furnishings. The state of the art facility has a large living room/common area that has a TV. WiFi is available throughout the home, and laundry facilities are on-site too. The spacious residence has a large kitchen and dining room, along with meeting and office spaces.

Clients can have their cell phones while living at the facility and have access to their own car during down times between programming. Visitors are welcome during off times as well, and there are also frequent outings to the movies or out to dinner.

All the meals are designed by a dietitian who works with the house chef to prepare fresh, healthy and delicious meals for the clients. Additionally, The Emily Program is able to accommodate particular dietary restrictions and needs.

Treatment and Staff

Residential treatment addresses several different common eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and overeating. Upon arrival clients undergo a medical exam and meet with the therapy team to put together a treatment goal plan. Every track is individualized, so there isn’t a set amount of time that clients are expected to stay in treatment, though it’s generally a minimum of 30 days.

A typical day usually includes a variety of activities and groups, nutritional counseling, education and recreation along with individual therapy. Treatment approaches are evidence-based and include CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care and art and music therapy. There is also an experiential element to treatment that encourages healthy attitudes towards food and body image.

Staff members include Master’s-level therapists and medical professionals who are LP, nutritionists, physicians, psychiatrists and dietitians. Medication management can be facilitated.

Extras

The Emily Program integrates complementary holistic methods that go with therapeutic approaches like yoga, meditation, cooking and other expressive therapies.

In Summary

The Ohio residential treatment program of The Emily Program provides beautiful housing to complement comprehensive and caring treatment. The staff takes its time with each client to make him or her feel heard and supported. The Emily Program is a safe space for clients to learn how to care for themselves and regain lost confidence.
