The Center for Alcohol & Drug Services OutpatientThe Basics

Founded on January 25, 1980, The Center for Alcohol & Drug Services (CADS) has a long and successful history dedicated to the prevention, assessment and treatment of substance abuse in the Quad Cities and surrounding communities. With locations in the states of Iowa and Illinois, CADS is a non-profit, multi-modality organization that is licensed by the Department of Public Health in Iowa and the Department of Human Services, Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Illinois. Besides residential treatment, CADS’ Iowa network has affordable outpatient programs for clients of all age groups, as well as their families.

Treatment and Staff

Outpatient treatment at CADS is 12-step based and includes individual and group therapy, addiction education, family therapy and help with co-occurring disorders. Adolescent clients are offered evaluation and outpatient treatment. Adult clients are offered evaluation, outpatient treatment, the option for Methadone medication-assisted treatment and/or detox. CADS’ inpatient division, the Country Oaks Facility, supports a Medically Monitored Detox unit, which is managed by a 24-hour nursing staff. Clients are seen daily by a physician, who monitors the detox process.

Both the length of outpatient treatment and the amount of hours of therapy varies on an individual basis. The facility is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and closed on weekends. Continuing care is available for clients as well. Attendance at local AA/NA meetings is highly encouraged through the duration of the program and beyond.

The staff is comprised of CSACs, CADCs and LPNs.

Extras

CADS also offers a variety of substance abuse prevention and awareness programs focused on educational and informational activities for families. For children and adolescents, CADS offers after school and summer outreach programs and esteem building groups. This extended support is designed to create a supportive and substance-free community for the client.

In Summary

The Center for Alcohol & Drug Services’ outpatient division has more than two decades of experience in treating substance abuse as well as quality facilities and a helpful and well-credentialed staff. Located in a calm, rural environment and funded by private and public sources and donation, CADS is  truly an accessible, affordable option for those who need help.
