The Basics
Based out of San Francisco, California, Tenderloin Health Services is a multi-faceted behavioral health program and a subsidiary of HealthRIGHT 360. Previously known as GLIDE Health Services Clinic, it continue to offer the same outpatient and referral-based services to the city’s underprivileged, including treatment for chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, clients undergo an initial assessment to help develop an individualized treatment plan, which is made up primarily of group and individual therapy using evidence-based practices such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). For opioid dependency, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available. While 12-step participation is not necessarily required, clients are encouraged to attend off-site AA/NA meetings to help supplement their treatment. For clients with a dual diagnosis, medication management is available as needed.
Staff consists of RNs, MDs, psychiatrists, CADCs, LCSWs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Aftercare is offered in the form of stepped down therapy, with referrals available to HealthRIGHT 360’s other programs.
Additional services include medical evaluations and check-ups are available, as are routine screenings for chronic diseases like diabetes, hepatitis and cancer. Women’s health services include family planning, pregnancy tests and obstetrics. Testing and education for HIV and Hepatitis C is also available.
In Summary
In all, Tenderloin Health Services is something of a one-stop shop for community-oriented behavioral and medical healthcare. The outpatient program for addiction and co-occurring disorders uses evidence-based practices combined with MAT when needed, in addition to offering a bevy of other healthcare services to those who may not otherwise have access. While this location caters to neighborhood locals and therefore may not be a good fit for everybody, Tenderloin Health Services does very well for its target demographic and remains a valuable resource for the area.
