The Basics
Founded 35 years ago, Sunrise Centers is the first outpatient substance abuse treatment program in Washington state. It offers standard and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for substance addiction as well as DUI education, relapse prevention and court-mandated classes.
Treatment and Staff
The Director of Treatment and Master’s-level Certified Addiction Professional, Alvin Curie and CAC, Matt LaBarge operate Sunrise Centers. Length of treatment can range from six to 12 months and is split in three phases. Phase One requires clients to attend three sessions per day, three times per week for two months. During Phase Two, clients attends one session per week for six months and during Phase Three, clients attend one session per month for as long as needed.
Treatment focuses on Responsive Reality Restructuring Therapy and includes CBT-based individual and group therapy as well as 12-step. Along with substance addiction treatment, Sunrise values a whole life approach in treatment by reinforcing the “ARC” guidelines: Accountability, Responsibility and Control. Groups are mixed gender and can accommodate up to 12 clients.
Detox and dual diagnosis support are referred to outside facilities.
In addition to outpatient treatment, Sunrise Centers holds court-mandated DUI, domestic violence, relapse prevention and substance education classes. Sunrise Centers can accommodate over 100 outpatient and educational clients at a given time.
Extras
Set in a residential home, Sunrise Centers offers a warm, home environment. It is currently creating a unique accountability curriculum not available in other outpatient programs.
Sunrise Centers is highly recommended by area lawyers and probation agencies. It works closely with clients to make sure their court-mandated education and fines are completed. It was awarded Best in Drug and Alcohol Treatment in Burien in 2013 and 2014 by the city of Burien. Sunrise Centers works with clients to create a comfortable payment plan.
