The Basics
Stepworks Recovery Centers is an addiction treatment program that offers a detox and residential care. It also has an outpatient with sober living program for adults with several locations throughout Kentucky. Based on the 12 steps, it’s a safe and structured transitional housing option. It’s designed for those who have gone through a more intensive inpatient program. They start reacclimating into their communities while utilizing the skills acquired in treatment.
Accommodations and Amenities
The sober living housing is comprised of a series of two bedrooms apartments. Each unit accommodates up to four clients. Spaces are fully furnished and offer full beds, dressers, desks, dining room furniture, a spacious living room with TV and a fully equipped kitchen.
All linens are provided. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. Food and personal items, such as toiletries, are the responsibility of the clients.
Rules and Regulations
In order to qualify for the sober living, individuals must attend the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and participate in a series of life skills classes. Topics include finance, personal development and housekeeping. While clients don’t necessarily have to have completed residential treatment, they do have to be sober upon arrival.
The IOP is a three day a week program with group therapy and at least one individual session. A four week track that includes about 10 hours of treatment per week on average, in IOP clients address core issues in recovery, discuss relapse prevention, learn coping skills, identify triggers and tackle disease management. They are expected to attend several AA/NA meetings per week as well.
In addition to attending the outpatient program, clients have to get a sponsor, adhere to the curfew and be medically and financially stable.
Extras
An additional program offered at this stage is the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) track, which uses evidence-based care, Suboxone or Vivitrol. Clients participating in MAT must go to some sort of counseling throughout the process in order to qualify.

The Stepworks Recovery Centers’ outpatient and sober living program offers safe living quarters and structured outpatient track. Clients learn how to live on their own again using valuable life skills and showing accountability. This is an excellent next step for those who are not quite ready to be on their own in early sobriety.
