The Basics
With several locations throughout the state, South Texas Rural Health is a multi-faceted organization that was founded in 1976. Aside from basic medical services, it provides outpatient treatment for substance abuse at its Cotulla, Hondo, Devine, Big Wells, Pearsall, Encinall, Dilley and Carrizo Springs locations.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial intake and assessment, clients work with staff members to develop an individualized treatment plan. While each program varies, treatment generally consists of individual and group therapy based in evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Additional support is available for clients with co-occurring disorders. Clients also participate in 12-step recovery as a part of their program. As each treatment track is specific to the client’s needs, there is no set length of care.
The staff at South Texas Rural Health consists of LPCs, CADCs, MDs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Additional services include lab tests, dental care, HIV/AIDS testing, nutrition counseling and more. Spanish speaking services are also available. Those in need of aftercare can also continue to attend therapy at a stepped-down rate.
In Summary
Overall, South Texas Rural Health provides basic, flexible treatment for addiction to those in more remote parts of the Lone Star state. Treatment is evidence-based and includes 12-step integration and a wide range of ancillary health services, making South Texas Rural Health a valuable resource for locals.
