SLPThe Basics

Sober Living Properties is a Utah organization that manages a group of sober living homes for men. There are three locations in the Salt Lake City area, including Millcreek House, Holladay House and Draper House. About 300 miles south, nestled on the Utah-Arizona border, St. George House, is named for the city where it is located.

Accommodations and Amenities

Sober Living Properties accommodates a total of 71 men throughout all four houses. Men share double-occupancy rooms in fully furnished residences. Millcreek House is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Salt Lake City. It is in close proximity to Holladay House and both houses are near public transportation and the I-15. Millcreek House amenities include off-street parking, a widescreen television, recreation game room with an additional TV, cable, Wi-Fi and free laundry facilities. The house has two fully equipped kitchens.

Holladay House amenities parallel those found at Millcreek House except their living room includes a fireplace, and there is only one television and kitchen on the premises. Additionally, they have a game room with a pool table and plenty of parking on the premises. The third Salt Lake location, Draper House, sits on horse property. Amenities include two widescreen televisions, on-site parking, Cable, two kitchens, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi and a private phone line.

The St. George House is located near a bus stop, and a park. Amenities include a full-sized swimming pool, off-street parking, Wi-Fi, a living room with a fireplace and widescreen TV, three living areas with more TVs, two kitchens and laundry facilities. The house is located near Dixie College and residents are encouraged to attend.

All house residents are responsible for purchasing their own groceries and preparing their own meals.

Rules and Regulations

Salt Lake City clients must participate in outpatient treatment at Next Level Recovery, the sister company of Sober Living Properties. Next Level Recovery offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that consists of three 90 minute CBT-based group sessions and an hour of individual therapy weekly. Next Level Recovery also offers medication-assisted treatment, specifically, naltrexone for clients recovering from opiate addiction. The St. George clients are also encouraged to participate in a local IOP or outpatient program.

Clients must attend a minimum of three weekly 12-step meetings while living at Sober Living Properties. Most residents go to both AA/NA meetings or counseling every day. Staff administers random drug tests during the week. For the first two weeks, the curfew is 10 pm and residents are granted additional time and privileges, according to their conduct. There is a minimum stay of 30 days and no limit to how long an individual can live at Sober Living Properties. Some residents have stayed for as long as two years.

Extras

Residents enjoy the sense of fellowship with one another and participate in an abundance of activities together.  These include fishing, attending a local gym, skiing, swimming, hiking, rock climbing and outdoor sports.

In Summary

Sober Living Properties gives first dibs to clients attending their outpatient sister program, Next Level Recovery. There are very few openings for clients who just seek sober living. For male clients seeking counseling services plus affordable, comfortable sober living, this is the way to go.
