The Basics
Based in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Shorehaven Behavioral Health is a treatment facility providing services for mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Therapeutic services are available for children, couples and families with case management, psychotherapy and rapid response crisis as well as a range of community services. Along with a basic outpatient program, clients can enroll in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or receive in-home treatment from a network of facilities throughout the state.
Treatment and Staff
Shorehaven conducts full-service outpatient programs that include a day treatment program that provides 18 hours per week of group therapy, focusing on working with patients who have mental health and chemical dependency dual diagnosis. Clients also receive individual therapy, casework services and urinalysis screening. Family counseling is also available as-needed. The amount of individual sessions a client attends depends on the type of problem, the therapist’s decision on how best to help and the type of therapy.
In treating substance abuse problems, the facility uses evidence-based treatment modalities such as Motivation Enhancement (MET) and Community Reinforcement. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with ReVia, Campral and Suboxone are also available for those suffering from opiate withdrawal symptoms. Shorehaven is not 12-Step oriented.
The facility employs a variety of mental health professions that include psychiatrists, psychologists, CSWs, professional counselors, art therapists, MFTs and SACs. There are nine staff members on the management team.
Extras
Shorehaven also offers an aftercare program which provides four hours of group therapy and individual sessions as needed for clients who have achieved sobriety. The continuing care program lasts from six months to a year.
