Located in the beautiful Los Angeles community of Pacific Palisades, Serenity Trauma Healing Center is an outpatient treatment facility that specializes in the care of adolescent and adult clients struggling with mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and trauma, as well as alcohol and substance use disorders. Serenity Trauma Healing Center seeks to treat the symptoms of disorders and heal the underlying root causes. As such, the facility provides individualized treatment programming customized to the specific needs of the individual.
CARF-accredited, Serenity offers a curriculum of care that spans a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), day treatment, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), outpatient services and sober living. While the 12-step model is not a component of the approach, Serenity does facilitate medication management for clients with co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Serenity Trauma Healing Center provides personalized treatment programs for clients coping with trauma and co-occurring disorders like substance use and eating disorders. During intake, clients undergo an extensive evaluation that determines the most effective treatment strategy tailored to their needs. Many clients transition immediately into Serenity’s comprehensive PHP. PHP offers six hours of therapy during the weekdays, with most clients sleeping at one of two sober houses. Upon completion of PHP, clients typically step down into the day program, with therapy five hours each weekday, and then the IOP for 12 hours of therapy spanning across three days. There is a second IOP that offers six hours of therapy over two days. Finally, the outpatient services are completely customizable, with therapy whenever the need arises.
The multiple stages of care at Serenity are ideal for clients transitioning out of a residential program back into regular life, as well as for individuals that need a consistent therapeutic structure but cannot commit to an inpatient program. While the length of care varies depending on the needs of the client, the facility has a two week minimum.
Serenity Trauma Healing Center employs a multi-faceted approach to care that integrates an array of therapeutic methods including evidence-based practices, holistic methods, recreational activities and innovative techniques. Clients engage in individual, group and family therapy rooted in emotional-based therapy and EMDR to treat trauma as a causal component of current conditions. The facility also offers a range of cutting edge therapeutic modalities like brainspotting, somatic experiencing and neurofeedback therapy that teaches clients to regulate otherwise involuntary body functions such as muscle tension and heart rate.
The multi-disciplinary Serenity Trauma Healing Center team is comprised of MDs, PsyDs, Masters level therapists and counselors, clinicians, a yoga instructor, acupuncturist and massage therapist. Medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders in need of dual diagnosis support.
Extras
Serenity Trauma offers a family therapy program that helps educate families on the effects of trauma and the most effective coping strategies.
The facility also provides extensive pain management programming that includes IOP and customizable outpatient services.
In addition, clients participate in personal fitness training, yoga, mindfulness meditation, massage, chiropractic services as well as dance, art and music therapy.
