The Basics
Sellati and Co. is a CARF accredited network of methadone treatment facilities that serve Virginia and North Carolina with several locations in both states. Since 1992, when the company first began at its flagship location, Fairfax Methadone Treatment Center (FMTC), Sellati and Co. has provided outpatient care for clients who are in need of a maintenance program to eventually rid themselves of their dependence on heroin or other opioids. These programs consist of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combined with group and individual therapy, referral services and aftercare. Treatment is completely individualized and provided to adults who are 18 and older.
Treatment and Staff
An admission to the program at Sellati and Co. is based on a series of tests and evaluations. Potential clients submit lab specimens, undergo physical exam and psychological testing, and have an intake interview with a counselor. If they are able to continue on with the program, they’re provided with a customized treatment plan and paired with a primary counselor with whom they have weekly individual therapy. During these sessions. the client and therapist go over their primary goals and objectives, and discuss treatment protocols.
Programming is broken down into three categories. The methadone therapy aspect is either a detox process, lasting anywhere between 30 days and six months, or a maintenance program. The length of the maintenance phase varies per person but can be considerably long. The counseling portion of treatment includes weekly group therapy, psychoeducational meetings, peer support counseling and regular medical and psychological evaluations. Clients are able to receive medical referrals and are also aided in vocational training and placement. The third part of treatment includes an aftercare program, which can be ongoing.
These programs are overseen by a medical director who operates the private facility. Because Sellati and Co. is a private network of clinics, clients from anywhere are able to receive treatment. In addition, there is no wait for dosing schedules, and everything is highly private and confidential. Though the counseling and programming is not based on the 12 steps, it is often suggested that clients do seek out an additional support community while participating in these tracks.
Staff of Sellati and Co. include SACs, licensed clinical supervisors, RNs and LCSWs.

Family therapy can be facilitated upon request by clients and their loved ones. The aftercare program is in a group therapy setting and usually peer run.
