The Basics
Located in Austin, Texas, Segue Recovery Support is a sober living that specializes in the care of men and women in the beginning stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Founded in 2006 and part of the BRC Recovery family of programs, this Joint Commission accredited facility provides gender-specific housing, a strong peer support community and a curriculum of care that includes individual, group and family therapy. In addition, residents with a dual diagnosis can receive medication management and all individuals participate in a 12-step immersion.
Accommodations and Amenities
Residents stay in one of two gender-specific apartment communities with a total of 100 beds. Seque’s unique location offers clients the privacy and community they need for recovery as well as a close proximity to employment opportunities and academic institutions.
Clients considered stable in their recovery are able to stay in a graduate style apartment, where they have one or two roommates in a two or three bedroom apartment equipped with comfortable furnishings, TVs, spacious floor plans and industrial sized kitchens.
Rules and Regulations
While the length of stay varies depending on the unique needs and goals of the individual resident, Segue requires a minimum of 90 days. While most residents come from the Segue residential program, the facility is open to all individuals in need of transitional support. Segue provides an integrative approach to care that includes a wide array of services including individual, group and family therapy as well as case management, relapse prevention and medication management. The facility also offers assistance for employment as well as health and nutrition counseling.
All residents are monitored by an in-house manager, and there is a zero tolerance policy for any alcohol and substance use. Clients undergo random testing, are required to attend 12-step meetings and to obtain a sponsor. In addition, in order to stay at Segue residents must participate in group meditation, weekly house meetings, evening reviews and process groups as well as a psychiatric assessment. Residents must also either be working or performing community service. Violent, aggressive or sexual behavior of any kind will result in being asked to leave the facility.

Segue Recovery is one of few sober living facilities that offers individualized care. The facility not only offer three levels of transitional housing and gender-specific accommodations, clients also work extensively with trained sober coaches and receive assistance with academics and employment. In addition, Segue incorporates the 12-step recovery model and process groups to reduce the risk of relapse.
