The Basics
Saginaw Psychological Services is an outpatient facility with three branches throughout the state of Michigan—two located in Bay City, and the original in Saginaw. Founded in 1972, SPS provides a range of psychological services for adults and adolescents, including chemical dependency treatment. Through prevention efforts and treatment, clients can access affordable care that employs evidence-based methods and traditional therapy.
Treatment and Staff
SPS provides comprehensive individualized treatment that is tailored to each client. Before enrolling, all clients are assessed and then attend an orientation meeting that educates them on the treatment process. Those who have been court-ordered are given treatment plans based on meeting dictated requirements.
Each facility is open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 6 pm on Fridays and by appointment on Saturdays. An emergency phone system is available 24/7 to provide clients with emergency access when in need.
The clinical team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, LCSWs, CADCs, peer-support specialists, nurses and a range of mental and medical health professionals. Ethical codes of conduct are enforced to ensure the safety and wellness of each client. Counselors see clients for group and individual therapy; attendance at 12-step meetings is encouraged but not required.
Extras
Additional support groups are available to help clients struggling with domestic violence, trauma and co-occurring disorders. Every other Thursday evening, a family psychoeducation group is held as well as a parenting group. Relationship and marital therapy is also available.
