The Basics
Just south of Denver, Colorado, Running Creek Counseling offers a full range of outpatient counseling services for alcohol and drug addiction. Working with both individuals and families, its highly experienced staff are trained in substance abuse, mental health and court-ordered treatment and address issues of depression, anxiety, grief, domestic violence and trauma. Clients of all ages are welcome.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo substance abuse evaluations and assessments. After which, an individualized treatment plan is developed consisting of group and individual therapy at various levels of intensity (for some, attendance requirements may be as little as one group a week). One-on-one sessions use psychotherapy techniques with specialized methods—such as EMDR for trauma—are factored in as needed. Therapists work with clients to help them understand the cycle of addiction, managing cravings, identifying triggers and developing a support system.
Groups address substance abuse as well as related issues of depression, anxiety, grief and dual diagnosis. Groups for domestic violence and anger management are also offered. The Cognitive Restructuring group works on personal development, creating self-awareness and getting out of the cycle of negative thinking.
Offices are open Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm and the staff consists of LPCs, Licensed Addiction Counselors (LACs), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) and Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Separate programming is available for DUI offenders in the form of Level II Education classes for 12 weeks. Monitored sobriety—which includes random urine testing, breathalyzers and Antabuse—is also offered.
Running Creek Counseling also provides supervised parenting; a safe place for parents to visit with their children when required by the Department of Human Services, the court system or as part of a custody agreement. A trained counselor remains with the family during the entire visit.
