The Basics
Founded in 2010 in Prescott, Arizona, Round Table Recovery is a transitional living house for men that provides structured housing paired with an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients learn basic life skills and attend group therapy, as well as receive psychiatric services, vocational support and medication monitoring. Round Table Recovery is a halfway house which is usually a bridge between primary care and sober living.
Accommodations and Amenities
Round Table Recovery accommodates up to 16 men inside a 3,000 square-foot National style house, which has six bedrooms, four bathrooms and two spacious common areas. Residents share double or triple occupancy, furnished rooms, which include twin beds topped with comforters, a nightstand, dressers and a large window, which allows for ample sunlight.
The men are responsible for their own groceries and food preparation. Staff is on hand to offer nutritional guidance and help clients cook meals. A weekly Monday night family dinner is served, to encourage fellowship. Amenities include Wi-Fi, Cable TV, YMCA membership access, and transportation (upon request). Staff lives on the premises to provide supervision and guidance.
Rules and Regulations
Prior to admittance, clients must have undergone detox, and most have completed 30 days of primary care at a rehab facility. The average length of stay is six months. At Round Table Recovery, clients attend an IOP at an off-site Arizona State licensed facility. Treatment employs evidence-based modalities, specifically CBT, during treatment. Treatment includes group and individual therapy, psychoeducational classes and required daily attendance at 12-step meetings. Psychiatric consultations and medication monitoring is provided for those with co-occurring disorders.
Group topics include relapse prevention, stress management, problem solving, relationship issues, compulsive and impulsive behaviors and communication skills. Clients learn about the disease of addiction in classes that employ learning tools such as videos, lectures and group discussion. Homework is assigned on a regular basis. Round Table Recovery is deeply rooted in the steps.
Besides attending daily AA/NA meetings, the men must work all of their steps prior to graduation from the program. Staff helps them secure sponsors who will guide them through the process. Every evening, residents participate in an 11th step meeting. In addition to IOP, men must attend daily house meetings and perform household chores. Drug and alcohol testing is conducted twice a week. Residents who relapse must leave the premises immediately to ensure the safety of the household.
Extras
Other services include money management, resume writing and letter writing to the courts and probation for criminal justice cases.
Clients participate in fellowship events and recreational activities, which include hiking, camping and excursions to the Grand Canyon.
In Summary
Round Table Recovery offers transitional care, which includes many services offered at an inpatient rehab at a much more affordable cost. This is a great option for men who can’t afford traditional rehab, but really need a comprehensive program. The men in the Round Table Recovery program are encouraged to support each other and build a solid foundation in recovery together.
