The Basics
Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services was founded in 1957 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Today, the non-for-profit organization operates 23 locations in the Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane and Scott counties and offers outpatient substance abuse treatment to adult men and women.
Treatment and Staff
Incoming clients have usually completed a residential or detox program prior to beginning treatment at Ridgeview but attendance at either certainly isn’t a requirement. Treatment involves both group and individual counseling. The exact length and intensity of the program is based on the counselor’s assessment of the client’s need and varies per person. The majority of treatment takes place in a group setting but counselors still aim to address each client’s individual needs and use education, sharing, relapse prevention and CBT. Individual sessions are scheduled accordingly for each client.
Although Ridgeview is not 12-step based, attendance at outside AA and NA meetings in the community is recommended. Ridgeview is dual diagnosis and offers individual sessions with a mental health counselor for clients with potential co-occurring disorders. There are also a team of psychologists and registered nurses on staff who can help provide medical care. The organization’s counselors consist of LPCs and LCSWs.
Extras
Ridgeview also offers court-ordered services, transitional housing for homeless individuals and a peer support center for individuals with acute mental health issues.
