The Basics
Renacer Latino, Inc was founded in 1999 in Waukegan, Illinois, a mid-sized city north of Chicago. The organization operates locations in Glenview, Mundelein and Waukegan and provides outpatient substance abuse treatment to adult and adolescents.
Treatment and Staff
Renacer is bilingual and provides counseling in both English and Spanish. The outpatient program combines individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices, such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as relapse prevention, education and peer sharing. The program also teaches life skills and anger management. Clients can expect to be regularly and randomly drug tested.
The exact length and intensity of treatment is based on counselor assessments and therefore varies— ranging from 22 to 75 total hours. Although treatment is not 12-step based, counselors recommend that clients attend local AA and NA meetings to supplement their recovery.
For clients with a dual diagnosis, additional support is offered through individual sessions with a mental health counselor.
The substance abuse treatment team are all LPCs.
Extras
Renacer offers an aftercare program that consists of ongoing individual sessions with counselors. It also has special groups for adolescents that meet in the afternoon and evening to accommodate academic schedules. Finally, it offers prevention, intervention and DUI services to the community.
