The Basics
Recreate Life Counseling is an outpatient treatment program out of Hypoluxo, Florida, a small town in Palm Beach County. Somewhat in keeping with the “Florida Model” of treatment, it also offers sober living residences for men and women who have recently left a residential program and are an in need of longer term support for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Recreate Life facilitates an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that is individualized and focuses on clients restructuring their core values and restoring valuable family relationships. Recreate Life Counseling was co-founded by Jesse Reuter and Alex Riley, who are CAP and CAI, with the goal to provide a place in South Florida for individuals to rebuild their lives by discovering their purposes.
Treatment and Staff
Recreate Life Counseling typically serves clients who are coming out of an intensive inpatient program and are already sober. The IOP is a half day program that consists of group and individual therapy. During the program clients are encouraged to start reintegrating themselves back into their community and daily lives by seeking out employment or going back to school while participating in their treatment.
Clients explore relapse prevention and identifying triggers through a variety of evidence-based treatment methods. Therapy sessions include CBT approaches, and clients have regular 12-step support. There are also co-ed and gender-specific group sessions and dual diagnosis specific programming. Medication management is also an available service.
Additionally, clients who have experienced trauma or PTSD are subject to treatment that is specific to their needs. This can include EMDR, hypnotherapy, trauma-informed care and Rapid Trauma Resolution.
The Recreate Life Counseling staff is comprised of Master’s-level therapists whose credentials include LMFT, LPC and RN.
Extras
In regards to the sober living options, the men and women live in separate facilities. The men’s housing is situated on a small campus made up of two, single story apartment style homes, and the women’s is one big two story house. Clients sleep in double occupancy rooms in both cases and share common areas like the living room with TV and cable, kitchen and dining rooms. The men’s housing usually accommodates up to four clients per unit and the womens can fit six. The women’s home has a large backyard and several balconies throughout the facility.
Since this program is based on real world experiences, clients are responsible for getting and preparing their own meals.
In Summary
The treatment at Recreate Life Counseling focuses on the clients desire to remain sober through accountability while at the same time offering a great deal of flexibility and real world experiences. This isn’t a cookie cutter version of an IOP and sober living. Clients who are in this program are provided with the right tools to succeed and are put on the right path, but have to have the drive to continue on the recovery path by rediscovering themselves and what really matters to them.
