Recovery Resources provides comprehensive behavioral health care at three outpatient facilities in the Cleveland, Ohio area. The organization offers outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults and adolescents facing substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Through community partners, Recovery Resources also provides adults with referrals to local sober living apartment buildings.

In 2000, two Cleveland-based agencies merged to become Recovery Resources. Eight years later, an organization called Community Challenge joined with Recovery Resources to increase its reach to young people in suburban areas. In 2011, Spectrum of Supportive Services broadened housing services and added programs focused on helping people re-enter the workforce.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment begins with an initial evaluation to determine whether one of the programs offered by Recovery Resources would be the right choice, or if a referral to detox or a residential program is necessary. Walk-in, same-day assessment services are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Midtown or Old Brooklyn locations. Assessments can also be scheduled by appointment.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) consists of three group sessions a week for three hours each. Groups are offered during the day or in the evening, Monday through Friday, to accommodate work, school or family commitments. Clients receive education about the risk factors of addiction and are helped to identify their own personal triggers, learn coping skills and create plans for preventing relapse. Individual therapy and case management are also part of all the programs. Outpatient treatment typically includes the same components as IOP, but meets only once a week. The duration of treatment depends entirely on the individual.

Therapy employs evidence-based practices like CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There are also specialized sessions geared towards clients with a dual diagnosis and for those with PTSD, trauma and mood disorders. There are two different tracks for individuals with co-occurring disorders. One is designed for those suffering primarily from addiction, with mental health needs as secondary; the other is for those whose primary challenge is mental illness and their addiction is secondary. A specialized, gender-specific IOP program for women that incorporates trauma-informed care is also available.

The staff at all three locations consists of LPCs, LCSWs, and LADCs.

Extras

Sober living is available offered to residents of Cuyahoga County who are over 18 years-old and are receiving treatment for mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Recovery Resources owns or operates properties that can accommodate close to 100 individuals, including apartment living in shared and single units, condominiums or co-op living.

In Summary

Recovery Resources’ outpatient services incorporate individualized treatment with a commitment to evidence-based methods. With three locations, a strong dual diagnosis component and resources available for sober living, Recovery Resources is a great choice for those in the Greater Cleveland area who are looking for a well-rounded approach to recovery.
