The Basics
Recovery Center of Cameron County, located in Brownsville and Harlingen, Texas, is an outpatient treatment facility that offers programs for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Its programs include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention and psychoeducation utilizing evidence-based therapy methods. Treatment and Staff
Recovery Center addresses specific treatment needs and designs an individualized plan for each client; with specific programs geared towards alcohol, opiates, cocaine and marijuana, as well as behavioral health concerns like co-dependency or depression. Programs are available to adults 18 years and older and groups are usually divided according to age.
Treatment is offered in different intensities but can commence up to three times a week. Every level includes CBT and educational lectures about the disease of addiction, aiming to help the client discover underlying issues, like past traumas or undiagnosed mental illness, which may have contributed to their addiction. Clients are also given random drug tests through out their program. Twelve-step recovery is not a part of treatment at this facility.
For clients with a dual diagnosis, additional individual therapy and medication management are available. For clients with an opiate addiction, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is also an option.
Recovery Center employs about 20 therapists between its two locations. The clinical staff includes Master’s-level CADCs and LPCs in addition to psychiatrists.
Extras
Aftercare groups are offered on a weekly on-going basis. Family counseling and Spanish-speaking treatment options are also available.
