The Basics
R.A.F.T Treatment Center was founded in 2005 in Emmaus, a small borough in eastern Pennsylvania’s Lehigh County. The organization offers outpatient substance abuse treatment to adult men and women in the eastern region of the state.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment process begins with an in-person assessment with a counselor, where substance abuse history is discussed and level of care is determined. If deemed a good fit, the counselor creates an individualized treatment plan. Those in need of a higher level of care are referred to outside residential or detox facilities.
R.A.F.T offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adolescents aged 13 to 17, young adults aged 18 to 25 and adults 25 years and older. Although exact length and intensity of the treatment is based on assessment, the IOP generally meets three days a week and consists of group and individual counseling. Group meetings are usually capped at a total of 15 clients and counselors use a variety of treatment techniques including relapse prevention, education and sharing. The IOP also focuses on life skills, decision-making and relationship skills. Individual sessions are scheduled as needed. While in treatment, clients are regularly drug tested and screened.
While treatment is not 12-step based, counselors at R.A.F.T highly recommend clients attend outside AA/NA meetings and find a sponsor while in the program. Clients with a dual diagnosis are offered additional support through individual sessions focusing on co-occurring disorders.
Staff consists of LCSWs and CSACs.
Extras
R.A.F.T offers individual family sessions with the client, counselor and their family members but only with consent.
