The Basics

Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Promise View is an upscale sober living facility for men in the beginning phase of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Founded by licensed nurse Tim Wood, Promise View provides not only transitional accommodations but also a stable foundation and strong community of peers. The facility is ideal for clients that have completed a residential program but are not ready to return home. The 12-step model is the cornerstone of recovery at Promise View.

Accommodations and Amenities

Promise View is situated in a 4,000 square foot, two-story home a couple blocks away from Jackson Park, a shopping center and public transportation. The house has six spacious shared bedrooms with two full-sized beds, dressers, cabinet space and plenty of natural light. There are four full bathrooms and several common areas including living rooms with comfortable couches and TVs. The kitchen and dining room are large enough for communal cooking and eating. Residents enjoy cable TV service and a laundry room.

Rules and Regulations

Before entering the house, clients undergo an extensive evaluation that includes medical and psychology records, demographics and the personal history of alcohol and substance use. Promise View expects residents to take responsibility for their own recovery as well as running the house. In addition to maintaining abstinence throughout their stay, clients are required to perform daily chores and adhere to a strict evening curfew. Individuals are drug tested at random, must pass a breathalyzer every day and attend a house meeting every week to discuss internal issues. The weekly house meetings are also an opportunity for residents to connect with one another about the personal difficulties and challenges of early recovery. Smoking is not permitted in the house, and anyone that commits a violent act will be kicked out.

Promise View considers the 12-step method as an integral component to the success of a long-term, sustainable recovery. Residents are required to obtain a sponsor, attend an in-house meeting every week and participate in local meetings. For clients that need one-on-one assistance, a director and house manager are always on site.

In Summary

Promise View is an upscale sober living facility in a quiet, residential neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Residents stay in a safe and comfortable home with plenty of amenities. In addition, clients are expected to pay rent, perform chores and engage in 12-step meetings. With only 12 men on the premises at any time, the facility provides a quiet atmosphere with a tight-knit community. For clients seeking a solid home base and a clean slate, Promise View is a great option.
