Priory Ticehurst House
Ticehurst House is part of Priory Hospital in East Sussex. It offers adolescents and adults outpatient care for mental illness and addiction. This Priory location has been around for over 225 years and serves 10,000 clients yearly. Treatment includes evidence-based modalities and medical interventions. The outpatient tracks include an intensive day program as well as step-down outpatient treatment, all of which they tailor to the clients’ needs.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment facility sits on over 48 acres. There is a main hospital and two separate houses used for the inpatient and outpatient programs. The outpatient building is referred at as “The Lodge.” This is where clients meet for groups or one on one sessions.
In order to get into the outpatient program, clients can have an initial assessment over the phone or in person at the facility. Every assessment is free of charge and doesn’t require clients to commit to attending the program. After the initial assessment, the intake counselor recommends a treatment program. All treatment follows the National Institute for Health and Care guidelines (NICE).
The Ticehurst outpatient day program is the most intensive. It runs for several hours per day, up to five days a week. There is also the standard outpatient track, which is usually much more flexible and can work around the client’s schedule. During this OP program, clients either attend group therapy once or twice a week, or have a set schedule of individual therapy sessions.
Priory uses a wide array of therapeutic approaches during all stages of treatment. During the outpatient programs clients attend relapse prevention and psychoeducational workshops. Therapists commonly utilize CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR. There are day and evening options for sessions. The staff encourages clients to work or attend school during this stage.
The outpatient programs address an array of mental illnesses, addictions and co-occurring disorders. In addition to the private treatment options at the Ticehurst House facility, there are also services at the main facility for clients who receive assistance from the National Health Service. That includes acute mental health care for adolescents and adults.
Staff includes consulting psychiatrists, psychologists, addiction counselors, and nurses.
Extras
Family members and loved ones of clients who are in the outpatient program are able to obtain counseling services.
