The Basics

Princeton House Behavioral Health (PHBH) is a branch of the University Medical Center at Princeton that provides a variety of behavioral health treatment and wellness services. In addition to comprehensive inpatient care, PHBH offers a network of five outpatient locations across New Jersey that treat a wide variety of behavioral health issues. The specialized Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), geared toward specific demographic groups, allow clients to maintain a regular work and life schedule with sessions available in the mornings and evenings and focus on goal setting and solution-oriented treatment.

Treatment and Staff

PHBH offers substance abuse programs for adolescents, adults and older adults at its Princeton, North Brunswick, Eatontown, Moorestown and Hamilton locations. IOP is offered in both day and evening tracks. Individualized treatment plans are tailored to fit each client’s schedule and services include individual therapy, family counseling, couples counseling, educational groups and drug testing.

Group therapy is also available that meets a range of specific recovery needs, including co-occurring disorders, gender-specific groups and trauma-informed care. Individual counseling is scheduled independently while groups are offered at varying times. Groups incorporate both psycho-education and CBT and focus on topics like relapse prevention and anger management. Support for those with dual diagnoses consists of individual therapy and medication management as needed. The duration of IOP varies based on the needs of each individual.

The large staff at PHBH includes psychiatrists, certified psychiatric nurses, LCSWs, Master’s-level therapists, clinical psychologists, pharmacists and even registered dietitians who provide nutritional counseling. PHBH’s affiliation with the University Medical Center at Princeton means clients have easy access to physicians if medical needs arise. PHBH accepts most major insurance as well as Medicaid and Medicare.

Extras

Alternative therapies like yoga, art and writing, are offered for all clients of PHBH, whether they are in the inpatient or outpatient programs.

In Summary

Outpatient treatment at Princeton House Behavioral Health is ideal for those seeking a flexible program that allows them to maintain a regular schedule while still receiving solid, evidence-based care. As a branch of an expansive behavioral health network, clients can access a continuum of care that supports them at every stage of recovery.
