The Basics
Situated outside of Minneapolis in the small suburban city of Minnetonka, Minnesota, One Twelve is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of men coping with alcohol and substance use disorders. In addition to a residential program, One Twelve provides an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and general outpatient services rooted in an immersion into the 12-step recovery method. The founder, who remains anonymous, started One Twelve in 2013 after several decades of sobriety through 12-step programs. Treatment and Staff
One Twelve has outpatient treatment services for adult males struggling with substance abuse and addiction. The IOP and outpatient tracks are ideal for clients that either cannot commit to residential treatment, or those who are transitioning back into regular life from an inpatient program. With flexible scheduling, men can get the treatment they need while sleeping in their own home and continuing with their job or schooling. Before beginning care, all clients undergo a comprehensive assessment, called “Rule 25”, that is required by the state of Minnesota. The evaluation both serves as a baseline for progress analysis throughout treatment, and helps the team to determine the best possible individualized care strategy designed to meet the specific needs of the individual.
One Twelve offers a multifaceted approach to treatment that utilizes the 12-step recovery model as the cornerstone for care. In addition, the facility integrates a number of complementary therapeutic methods such as holistic models, addiction education, nutrition and evidence-based therapies. Clients engage in clinical counseling, individual and group therapy, family therapy, daily 12-step meetings and evidence-based Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to become empowered. Holistic methods like meditation are offered, as are process groups that focus on communication, anger management and relapse prevention. The length of the IOP varies depending on the needs and goals of the client.
The facility employs a small team comprised of a clinical director, director of business operations and the founder of One Twelve. While there are no physicians or psychiatrists on staff, referrals to outside physicians can be made for clients in need of dual diagnosis support or medication management.
