The Basics
Located in Orange County, California, Oasis Treatment Center is a family-run sober living community. Oasis was established by husband and wife Jim and Kathy Antonowitsch in 1988. After finding recovery through AA, Jim wanted to give back to the community and felt that additional care beyond a traditional 28 day treatment program was the best way to ensure long-term recovery. Oasis was one of America’s first addiction treatment facilities to offer dual diagnosis support and continues a long tradition of supportive treatment for recovering men and women as they transition into independent living. Clients are offered residences spanning from 30 days to two years.
Accommodation and Amenities
The main Oasis Treatment Center location is a large Victorian mansion just a few blocks from Disneyland in Anaheim. When Jim and Kathy discovered the property, it was a run down crack house. Kathy had a vision for how she wanted to remodel the home and give it new life. Today, the main house is updated and beautifully landscaped. It accommodates the administrative offices and is home to therapeutic groups and activities for the Oasis recovery community and weekly meetings.
Oasis has expanded to run four gender-specific homes are located centrally in Orange County, near many metropolitan conveniences, including work and educational opportunities. Each home contains kitchen, laundry and common areas. Clients have access to their bedroom, which they may share with others, or have private rooms depending on availability and length of stay in the program. Rooms are fully-furnished, with all basic comforts like bedding, a dresser and a reading lamp.
Monthly utilities, including water, trash, electric and gas, are included in monthly rent. Clients are responsible for telephone and cable TV charges, and for additional utilities costs above the monthly allotment. Residents are expected to purchase and pearler their own food. Each kitchen is fully equipped and storage areas are available for food.
Rules and Regulations
Clients are required to maintain their sobriety and to keep their personal living areas clean and tidy. Chores are shared, and clients are responsible to clean up after their own meals. No threats or acts of verbal or physical violence are tolerated and rent must be paid on a timely basis. Rental agreements are entered into month-to-month, and clients that are to be evicted for failing to comply with any of the rules are given two weeks notice, and no refund.
In-house AA and NA meetings are held on Sundays, and a Fireside Meeting led by founder Jim Antonowitsch has taken place at the main house Friday evenings for over 20 years. Weekly relapse prevention and aftercare groups are also provided at the original Oasis location. Attendance at all these sessions is required.
Extras
Two other 12-step meetings and a game night are offered at Oasis Treatment Center weekly and attendance at these is optional.

Oasis has a long history with treating addiction, and a strong belief in the value of working 12-step programs.
