The Basics
Oasis Counseling Services is a UK based clinic that was founded Master’s-level therapist John Ball. It offers a judgement free and confidential place to seek guidance for a number of life concerns. The treatment is facilitated by experienced counselors who work using a variety of evidence-based practices. With the exception of couples and family counseling, most sessions at Oasis are one on one.
Treatment and Staff
The first session serves as an assessment for both the therapist and client to establish what the individual’s reason for going to counseling is, and for the therapist to answer any questions. There is no set program or amount of time that clients have to commit to attending sessions, and the therapist and client have a collaborative relationship throughout their treatment. The counseling sessions run between 50 minutes to one hour, and are usually once a week.
Oasis Counseling Services treats several different mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, OCD and PTSD. There are also services specifically for clients who are in need of anger management, for couples having relationship issues, to address past traumas or abuse, for dealing with feelings of grief and loss, and for clients who are experiencing high levels of stress. Treatment is not just offered to adults, but also to families and adolescents.
There is a vast array of treatment methods utilized by the staff at Oasis Counseling Services. This includes integrative, CBT, Person Centered, Gestalt, DBT, Psychodynamic, Relational and more. The therapists are all well versed on these approaches, however at the initial meeting clients can request a counselor who has specific training in these areas.
The counselors at Oasis Counseling Services are all members of the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, and the Association of Christian Counselors. In addition to the Master’s-level staff, there are also some counselors in training that take clients under their supervision.
