The Renaissance Program was founded in 1988 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Part of Northpoint Health and Wellness Center—a major medical, mental and dental health provider in the Twin Cities region—The Renaissance Program offers outpatient treatment services for adult men and women with substance use disorders.

Treatment and Staff

Individuals begin the treatment process at the Renaissance with an in-person assessment with one of Northpoint’s counselors. During this meeting, the counselor and potential client discuss his or her substance abuse history and determine the needed level of care. If he or she is deemed a good fit for Renaissance, the counselor helps determine a treatment plan. Detox and residential treatment are not available through this facility.

Although the exact length and intensity of the Renaissance Program is based on the needs of each client, most clients attend group therapy one to three times per week and individual therapy is scheduled as often as needed based on the client’s plan. The group meetings are generally small, usually under 12 participants if possible. Although it’s somewhat of a peer support system setting, counselors still aim to address each client’s individual needs in the group sessions and utilize education, sharing, anger management, relapse prevention and CBT.

Although the Renaissance Program is not 12-step based, counselors do strongly recommend clients attend local AA/NA meetings and get a sponsor for additional support during treatment.

The Renaissance Program is equipped to treat dual diagnosis and offers individual sessions with a mental health counselor for clients with co-occurring disorders.

The substance abuse counselors at the Renaissance Program are all LADCs.

Extras

If the client requests and approves, Northpoint also offers individual family sessions with the client, counselor and their family members.

The Renaissance Program also offers both housing and job placement services to clients who are homeless or unemployed.

In Summary

Northpoint Health and Wellness Center’s Renaissance Program is an affordable option for men and women ready to get formal help while still maintaining professional and personal obligations. The flexible length of programming and capability to treat co-occurring disorders are added advantages to seeking help here.
