The Basics
New Life Connections, Inc. was founded in 1999 in Sanford, Florida, a small city in the central region of the state. The organization offers comprehensive outpatient treatment to adult men and women with offices in both Sanford and the nearby town of Altamonte Springs.
Treatment and Staff
Individuals interested in New Life initially meet with one of the organization’s counselors to help determine if they are a good fit for the program. Counselors aim to develop a comprehensive treatment and aftercare plan that addresses all aspects of the client’s life including health and legal issues as well as their educational and professional goals during and after treatment. Individuals in need of a higher level of care are referred to outside residential or detox facilities.
New Life’s outpatient program is six weeks and consists of group and individual therapy as well as six educational classes. The exact length and intensity of the program is based on the counselor’s assessment of the client’s need. Clients attend an educational class once a week and each class is based around a unique substance abuse topic. Counselors use EDMR, CBT and relapse prevention in the group sessions. New Life also offers anger management and gender-specific groups too. Individual meetings are available based on the needs of the clients. Clients must also consent to random urinalysis throughout their time in treatment. The organization is not 12-step based, but does encourage clients to attend outside AA/NA meetings and find a sponsor while in treatment. New Life does not provide dual diagnosis support and refers clients with potential co-occurring disorders to outside mental health providers.
The counselors at New Life are all LCSWs.
Extras
New Life offers relapse prevention groups for clients to attend after they step down from the outpatient program. These meetings focus on education and strategies for dealing with triggers, finding local sponsors in support groups and staying sober.
Also, upon client request, New Life offers individual family sessions with the client, counselor and their family members.

New Life Connections, Inc. is an affordable outpatient option that offers a viable evidence-based approach to treating addiction and alcoholism while also supporting participation in traditional 12-step recovery. Gender-specific group therapy is an added bonus, as is the emphasis on addiction education. Additionally, the aftercare planning gives men and women a strong strategy for a successful and sober life when they complete formalized treatment.
