New Hope Shelter’s Recovery Ranch is a men’s 90 day transitional housing program located in Waynesboro, PA. This program is for those who struggle with homeslessness and addiction, or have been in and out of the incarceration cycle. The facility provides housing, education, addiction outpatient treatment and job training. The program is faith-based with a clear intent of helping their clients start over in life. The New Hope Recovery Ranch was originally established in 2014.
Accommodations and Amenities
The facility is situated on over seven acres of land and is able to accommodate around 20 clients in the main house and the two bedroom apartment on the property. The house is around 4000 square feet and provides kitchens, dining room, living room and additional common areas.
The shared computer room in the house is used for classes and job placement inquiries. There is also a shared phone, and game room. Some meals are provided through donations.
Rules and Regulations
This program requires that all incoming residents begin their journey in the house already clean and sober. This means that they can either come from some sort of inpatient program, or detox. Clients can expect to remain in treatment for about 90 days. During this time they receive a good amount of support through case management.
The facility has ties to several outpatient treatment facilities in the area. Clients may be referred to an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that creates individualized treatment plans. They are also expected to attend 12-step meetings. Additional services include in-house counseling, bible study, education, and vocational training and assistance.
A large portion of this program focusses on community reentry. Clients work with case managers to find work or education opportunities. They are taught life skills and are provided with resources both on and off campus. There are house meetings held each week, and there is always a house manager or other staff member available.

This is unequivocally not a treatment facility, but rather a training facility that offers outreach services and opportunities for men who are ready to take the right steps to end their addiction and lessen the chance that they will continue down the road to homelessness. With todays’ economic climate being what it is, it isn’t enough to just survive, but rather to have the ability to thrive. This program aims to show their residents that they are worthy of having a successful life, and try to give them all the tools to live a sober, happy and healthy existence.
