Based out of Buffalo, New York, Mid Erie Counseling and Treatment Services is a multi-faceted non-profit organization that’s been providing behavioral health services to Western New York since 1972. With locations in Rochester, Bowmansville, Cheektowaga and Buffalo, it offers a number of outpatient treatment options to adults and adolescents in the area.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, client are placed on a treatment track that best serves their needs. All programs are comprised of individual, group and family therapy when applicable and are open to both adults and adolescents. Psychologists, social workers and counselors on staff work with evidence-based modalities, like Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety and the Matrix Model; and also run groups on chemical education and relapse prevention strategies. Clients with co-occurring disorders are welcome. The adolescent track is limited to clients ages 12 to 18.
For adults, there is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that’s essentially a ramped up version of the standard outpatient treatment. The four to five week program requires therapy three days a week for three hours at a time.
Though staff size and credentials may vary by location, it typically includes Master’s-level counselors, LCSWs, LMHCs and psychologists.
Extras
The Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) track is a customizable and wide-ranging program for clients with mental illness. PROS has four components including community support, intensive rehab services, ongoing care and in-clinic treatment from psychiatric and medical professionals. This program is good for clients with a dual diagnosis as relapse prevention groups are also a part of this program.
Additional programs include treatment for sex and domestic violence offenders, as well as anger management. Behavioral intervention services are available for troubled adolescents and their parents, as well as a mental health program for children offering early recognition services.
