Mercy Options Behavioral Health Services OutpatientThe Basics

For over 30 years, Mercy Options Behavioral Health Services has provided outpatient substance abuse treatment at its Janesville, Wisconsin location, about forty miles south of Madison. Mercy Janesville is part of the Mercy Health System, a large provider network that serves over one million patients each year in southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. While the organization provides addictions counseling at their two other behavioral health locations, Janesville is the only one with a structured program.

Treatment and Staff

Mercy Janesville provides substance abuse treatment at the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient levels. PHP clients attend treatment Mondays through Saturdays from nine am to 2:30 pm for daily group therapy and weekly individual therapy. Most clients remain at this level of care for two weeks, before stepping-down to the IOP. In the IOP, clients have group therapy Mondays through Thursdays from nine am to 12 pm or from five pm to eight pm and individual therapy once a week. Most clients stay at this level of care for five weeks.

Clients enter standard outpatient after the IOP, after completing another program or having maintained three months of sobriety. They meet for group therapy once or twice a week on Tuesday afternoons or evenings or Thursday afternoons and they have individual therapy as-needed. This level of care usually lasts eight weeks, and clients can step-down frequency as their recovery stabilizes. After, clients may continue to attend group therapy as part of an extended care program.

The treatment team at Mercy Janesville includes Master’s-level therapists and CSACs. Groups have a maximum of ten participants and clinicians use Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the Stages of Change model. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step and other peer support meetings, the frequency of which will be addressed in their treatment plan. Mercy Janesville has a comprehensive mental health department that offers numerous programs for rehabilitation. Outpatient clients with co-occurring disorders have full access to its mental health clinicians for therapy and medication for dual-diagnosis support.

Extras

Family members who wish to learn more about addiction and supporting their loved one in recovery can attend their individual therapy sessions with the approval of the treatment team. Mercy Janesville also invites alumni with a year of sobriety to speak to current clients at Janesville for inspiration and support.

In Summary

For over thirty years, Mercy Options Behavioral Health Services Janesville has been providing outpatient treatment with three levels of care. Offering extensive mental health services and step-down options, Mercy Options Janesville might be an especially strong choice for addicts with mental health diagnoses and those who know they’d benefit from long-term support that responds to their progress level.
