The Basics
With a facility just a few steps away from Zuma Beach in Malibu, California, Malibu Integrative is a multi-faceted treatment organization offering programs for clients struggling with addiction and related behavioral health issues. The organization’s treatment plans include flexible Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) with an emphasis on holistic and integrated care practices.
Treatment and Staff
All clients coming into Malibu Integrative first go through a comprehensive assessment process to help the staff develop their individualized treatment plans. Though detox is not available on-site, those in need can get referrals to nearby programs. While the specifics of each plan vary depending on clients’ needs, treatment includes group and individual therapy with evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Beyond its standard clinical approaches (which include dual diagnosis support), the organization also offers a wide range of holistic care methods including art and music therapy, breath work, mindfulness training, equine therapy, narrative therapy, psychodrama, Somatic Experiencing and yoga classes. Trauma-informed care is also available, as are life skills classes. Though clients are encouraged to attend off-site self-help groups, these are not necessarily always 12-step groups—SMART Recovery is also encouraged. While clients with basic dual diagnosis issues like depression or trauma may be able to get help they need here, Malibu Integrative is a non-medical program; as such, those with severe co-occurring disorders may need to seek additional help elsewhere.
The staff at Malibu Integrative consists of LMFTs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Malibu Integrative also takes clients on a ROPES Course and has them do meditations on the beach as part of the program. Other relaxation services include aromatherapy, juicing services and an on-site Oasis Room where clients can meditate and relax during downtime. Those in need of aftercare services can also step down the intensity of their therapy and continue with treatment.
