The Basics
Located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island in the city of Christchurch, Lucid Psychotherapy and Counseling is a boutique treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders, eating disorders and/or co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety and trauma. Lucid provides comprehensive individualized treatment solutions at an affordable rate. The organization offers a holistic model of care that integrates several therapeutic methods including evidence-based therapy, mindfulnesses mentoring and ecotherapy. Lucid primarily offers outpatient counseling and therapy services. Neither medication management nor the 12-step recovery model are components of the programming.
Treatment and Staff
Clients beginning treatment at Lucid first undergo a comprehensive assessment to help the team determine the most effective personalized care method. The treatment team can facilitate psychoanalytic psychotherapy, DBT, mindfulness practice and ecotherapy.
Individual sessions are typically an hour though there are 90 minute-long versions available. Through DBT practice and mindfulness mentoring, clients learn the skills to overcome an array of obstacles including anger, stress, past trauma and addiction. The facility also incorporates ecotherapy, where therapy connects clients with the serenity of nature. This process is especially effective for individuals with a desire to help the environment. Lucid hosts DBT focus groups that target mindfulness, tolerance, interpersonal skills and emotional temperance. In addition, clients are encouraged to attend weekend meditation and yoga workshops.
The Lucid Psychotherapy team is comprised of registered psychotherapists and mindfulness practitioners.
Extras
Lucid believes in the treatment of all individuals in need, regardless of funds. As such, it offers reduced rates for clients in need, and some persons may qualify for a 50% rate through disability allowance.
