The Basics
Living Free Health Services is a mental health and substance abuse treatment and counseling facility. Located in Annandale, Virginia, just two hours outside of Richmond and Washington DC, the substance abuse treatment program offered by LFHS is exclusively outpatient with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) available for those seeking assistance with opiate withdrawal.
Treatment and Staff
Those seeking treatment for a substance abuse must first go through an initial assessment and evaluation to determine the level of severity and to determine which treatments would be best suited. From there, the staff psychiatrist recommends a treatment plan best suited for their unique needs, including frequency and duration of treatment. This individualized treatment plan may involve individual therapy scheduled independently, regular group therapy with fellow clients, family counseling and marital counseling as needed.
LFHS also offers medication management for those with co-occurring disorders. Adjunct therapies and treatments that may also be included in one’s treatment plan include anger management or specialized programming for co-occurring disorders. All treatment therapies are based in CBT methodology. Although the 12 steps are not included in the substance abuse treatment program, clients are encouraged to attend community meetings.
The staff at LFHS consists of a psychiatrist, LPCs, LISWs and clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program, LFHS also offers a solid referral system for individuals seeking detox services, residential treatment or other forms of substance abuse treatment. LFHS also offers counseling for individuals with mental health issues as well as family counseling.

The Living Free Health Services approach to treatment is flexible and individualized and aims to treat the person as a whole, not just the disease of addiction. Though treatment is limited to basic outpatient care, clients have access to evidence-based treatment catering to their unique needs by a credentialed staff of experienced professionals in the field of mental health.
