Lowville New YorkThe Basics

Lewis County Community Recovery Center is the only outpatient substance abuse treatment facility in Lewis County licensed by the State of New York. Located in Lowville—a small village a hundred miles northeast of Syracuse—LCCRC is a program of Mountainview Prevention Services Inc., which has been providing the residents of Lewis County with supportive services since the early 1980s.

In addition to multiple levels of outpatient treatment, LCCRC offers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone for those suffering with opioid addiction.

Treatment and Staff

After an assessment, clients receive a treatment plan that is a combination of individual and group therapy. The most intensive level of treatment requires clients to attend group therapy three times each week and individual therapy at least once a week. The duration of treatment is progress-based, with clients stepping down and attending therapy less frequently as they maintain sobriety and achieve their treatment goals. Most clients attend the program for a minimum of three months and a maximum of one year.

Clients work with a primary counselor who guides them through treatment, revising plans as needed. Counselors include CASACs and integrated mental health counselors. Groups typically have fifteen or fewer participants and include topics such as addiction education, relapse prevention, dual diagnosis and anger management. Gender-specific groups are available, as well. Each week an MFT is available on-site to provide therapy for clients with co-occurring disorders.

LCCRC doesn’t require clients to attend peer support meetings, but they do recommend it and can furnish clients with a list of local 12-step meetings.

Clients seeking MAT for opioid addiction receive their Suboxone treatment on-site and must also attend group therapy at least once a month to maintain eligibility for the program. LCCRC plans to open a clinic dedicated to MAT, offering Suboxone and Vivitrol treatment, in the fall of 2016.

Extras

LCCRC hosts two monthly therapy groups for families of those suffering from substance abuse. It also provides a group for adolescent addicts based on community need.

Additionally, LCCRC provides classes and groups on tobacco cessation and DWI services for its outpatient clients.

In Summary

LCCRC provides a well-structured outpatient program serving a small upstate New York community. With MAT and dual diagnosis support in addition to traditional substance abuse therapy, LCCRC provides clients with comprehensive evidence-based treatment plans for long-term recovery. With a long history of community service, Lewis County Community Recovery Center has served those struggling with substance abuse for over 30 years.
