The Basics
La Luna Center is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors. With two locations in Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado, La Luna provides a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient services personalized to the unique needs of the client. While the organization does not utilize the 12-step recovery method, its programming does offer a well-rounded approach that includes evidence-based and holistic therapeutic methods as well as nutrition counseling.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients are encouraged to schedule a free initial consultation to find out about insurance and see if the facility is a good fit. During the first visit, individuals undergo an assessment that includes an examination of their specific needs. This helps the La Luna team develop the most effective personalized treatment strategy. La Luna provides outpatient treatment services for clients struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, obesity and disordered eating, in addition to those struggling with trauma and various mental health conditions like depression and bipolar disorder.
With flexible afternoon and evening scheduling, PHP and IOP are ideal for clients that cannot commit to residential treatment or for individuals transitioning back into regular life. The afternoon IOP runs between 11 am and 2 pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the evening version is between 5:30 and 8:30 pm. So clients are able to receive treatment while remaining at home and continuing to work. While the duration of care may vary depending on the needs of the client, treatment typically lasts 15 weeks. Clients engage in individual and group therapy and nutrition counseling that includes meal support. La Luna employs holistic and evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
La Luna Center employs Psy.D.’s, PhD’s, therapists, social workers, LPCs, registered dietitians and a medical director. For clients in need of dual diagnosis support, medication management is available.
Extras
La Luna offers a “Family & Friends” night on the first Tuesday of the month at both locations. These are free sessions where the guests of clients learn about the disease of eating disorders and how best to support them.
