The Basics
Raymond Moyer founded L2L Sober Living over 20 years ago in Sacramento, California. This sober living program for men provides a close, family-style atmosphere in a loosely structured recovery environment. Clients on medication-assisted treatment, including Suboxone, are welcomed at L2L Sober Living.
Accommodations and Amenities
L2L Sober Living accommodates between ten and twelve clients in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The six bedroom Lerwick Road residence is a white single-family bungalow-style house that was built in 1950. Nestled on a large lot, the residence features a landscaped lawn and an abundance of trees. The living room includes wood-tiled floors, a fireplace, couches and a flat screen TV. At L2L Sober Living, clients are offered either single or double-occupancy rooms, (for a slightly higher price). Amenities include one TV per client, Internet access and laundry facilities.
Clients purchase their own groceries and prepare meals in a fully equipped kitchen.
Rules and Regulations
Although L2L Sober Living accepts clients undergoing medication-assisted treatment, the exception is those using legal marijuana are not permitted in the house. Clients must attend three weekly 12-step meetings and perform household chores, but aside from that, they are offered a lot of freedom during their stay with the belief that they should be treated as adults. Despite the loose structure, Moyer requires that his clients uphold accountability. At L2L Sober Living, there is no set curfew, but clients are asked to let staff know what time they will be back home if they are running late.

In Summary
L2L Sober Living has a laid back environment and might be better for a client who has a little time under his belt, has completed residential treatment and has already established a 12-step foundation. However, for those who are averse to a tough love approach that is sometimes found at some sober livings and who prefer more independence, this would be the perfect fit.
