The Basics
Kennebec Behavioral Health is a behavioral health treatment and wellness facility providing services that promote the well being of individuals with mental and behavioral health problems. With a network of locations spanning across Waterville and Augusta counties in Maine, clients have access to a range of treatment options and resources. The substance abuse treatment program at KBH is an outpatient program with an emphasis on treatment for co-occurring disorders. In addition to Waterville, services are available in Augusta, Skowhegan, Winthrop and Lewiston.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with an initial screening, assessment and evaluation to develop an individualized treatment plan that integrates dual diagnosis support if needed. Typical components of treatment include individual and group therapy, family therapy, relapse prevention, group education and training as well as consultation services.
The frequency and duration of services varies with each individual and his or her particular needs. Individual and family therapy are scheduled independently, while group sessions are held several times throughout the week in three hour blocks, with a special group for co-occurring disorders. Group educational sessions are also held at various times throughout the week and cover topics such as the nature of addiction, coping skills, relapse prevention and aftercare. All services utilize evidence based methods and do not incorporate the 12 steps.
The staff at KBH consists of LSWs, CADCs and LPCs.
Extras
The substance abuse treatment program is not the only service offered by KBH; a variety of other behavioral health services and programming are available for clients and the community. Developmental disabilities, case management, youth and adult homeless outreach, housing, psychiatric and school-based services all contribute to the total-wellness approach of KBH. Vocational services are also available.
