The Basics
Located in London, England, Inroads Counseling is an intimate, private behavioral health clinic that offers discreet outpatient-based services for clients struggling with substance abuse and related dual diagnosis issues. Unlike many similar outpatient plans, the focus at Inroads is on pairing clients with recovery coaches and counselors who can work with them in their personal life and on a more flexible basis, rather than having them always come in-office like a standard Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all participants meet with the staff counselors and go through an assessment process to help determine their specific needs. As a boutique, outpatient-based care plan, detox services are not included though referrals can be made as necessary.
As each plan is individualized to the client’s needs (and all the recovery coaches have different backgrounds), no two plans are alike. In general, the facility pairs each participant with a recovery coach who can do something as basic as helping the client realize they need to seek more thorough treatment to something as complex as escorting a client through the pressures and temptations of their daily life. Generally speaking, these programs are focused on teaching life skills, strengthening daily routines and helping participants get set up with additional therapy and self-help groups to make sure they stay sober. Other services may include motivational discussions, goal-setting sessions and other forward-looking activities. As the program is generally aimed at those who are recently sober or who need to go into formal treatment, extensive dual diagnosis support is not available.
The staff at Inroads Counseling consists of recovery coaches, interventionists, sober companions and other treatment professionals.
Extras
As mentioned, each of these care plans is bespoke and can be made to suit each client’s needs. While the above programs are available as an encouragement for clients to attend more structured treatment, the sober companion program is something more along the lines of stepped-down aftercare. Should any participants decide to go to a more intensive program, they can still retain the services of Inroads when they come out. In these cases, the organization can coordinate with the facilities in question.

Overall, Inroads Counseling is a relatively unique and specialized treatment facility. Unlike standard outpatient programs that offer intensive therapy and dual diagnosis support, Inroads Counseling works as an ancillary program that either encourages participants to get treatment or accompanies them through their early days of sobriety. In both of these cases, the focus is on strengthening life skills and daily habits to avoid temptation and relapse, with all plans individualized to suit the person in question. While those in need of more intensive supervision or psychiatric support may want to seek additional aid, Inroads Counseling’s services remain a strong boon to those striving to remain sober.
