Inova CATS Program Review
Inova CATS (Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services) Program provides high-quality substance abuse and mental health treatment in several facilities throughout Virginia. With the exception of residential treatment, this program provides a continuum of care—detox, Suboxone treatment, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). In addition to the latest in addiction treatment, full dual diagnosis support is available.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial evaluation to determine which level of care is needed, clients can begin the detox process. This five- to seven-day period consists of 24-hour medical care, medication and counseling at a cost of $8,000. Once physical stabilization has been reached, the client can begin outpatient treatment, which includes group therapy. Group sizes are kept between 10 and 15 clients at a time.
The PHP offers seven hours of treatment a day, five days a week. Treatment consists of individual and group therapy as well as drug and alcohol education. Group topics include introduction to the 12-steps, relapse prevention, peer pressure, self-esteem, addiction as a disease, family recovery and behavioral issues. Evidence-based therapies such as CBT are frequently used. Educational lectures inform clients about the history of AA/NA, as well as the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The cost is $1,200 a day.
The 10-week IOP meets for three hours of treatment up to five days a week. This option follows a similar structure to the PHP. As a client progresses with a treatment plan, they can slowly cut back on attendance. Eventually, they will only require only three hours of treatment each week. Cost is $6,000.
Finally, Inova’s sober living group meets once a week, acting as a form of aftercare to support clients as they transition back into everyday life. For those suffering from opiate addiction, Suboxone maintenance is available.
Family support is offered through weekly family education groups as well as family counseling.
The staff includes nurses, doctors, therapists, counselors and psychiatrists with professional a range of professional credentials.

Toxicology drug and alcohol screenings are available.
