Hope’s Sober Living Review
San Jose, California’s Hope’s Sober Living is a transitional living program specifically for addicts in their first year of recovery. It promotes living a healthy and substance-free life in a family like environment. Residents can expect to attend 12-step meetings and maintain a structured daily schedule.
Accommodations and Amenities
Clients reside in a four bedroom, three bathroom home in the Evergreen neighborhood of Silicon Valley. The facility accommodates clients in bedrooms furnished with bunk beds that have a mounted flat screen TV included. There is also a TV in the shared living room. Other amenities include a game room with pool table, and a fully stocked, newly remodeled kitchen and dining room.
The facility provides cable, Wifi and all utilities. It also sets out some healthy snacks, like fresh fruit, for the clients to enjoy. An on-site washer and dryer is available for use as well.
Hope’s Sober Living also hosts a number of recreational and social activities both on site and outside of the house.
Rules and Regulations
First and foremost, clients need to stay sober if they want to reside at Hope’s Sober Living. Clients must also submit to random drug and alcohol screenings. If they fail the drug test, or if there is any evidence of a relapse, they are discharged from the program immediately. It is possible for reentry only after they have proven themselves to be sober for a minimum of 24 hours, and pay the reinstatement fee.
The facility is fully furnished, but clients are responsible for providing their own food, towels and bedding. Clients should bring only their personal necessities into the house. The organization expects everyone to keep the facility clean and work together to do so.
Clients need to attend AA or NA meetings while living at this house and procure a sponsor who they keep in constant contact with. They must also work, be accountable and pay all of their fees on time.
There is a manager on site 24 hours a day. The house manager needs to have no less than six months sobriety under their belt and be actively working the 12 steps.
