Healthy Partnerships Review
Founded in 1997, Healthy Partnerships (HP) serves the Bay Area and Central Valley of Northern California with quality alcohol and substance abuse outpatient care. In addition to addressing drugs and alcohol, the program provides dual diagnosis support for mental health issues.
Treatment and Staff
HP draws on a bio-psychosocial model that addresses the physiological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual aspects of treatment. For starters, clients must meet the medical criteria set by HP, including intensity of addiction and the projected ability of a client to move successfully through recovery. Detox is not available.
HP offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient. The length of time spent in each depends on the individual’s needs. Clients in IOP meet two or three times a week for three-hour sessions (unexcused absences are prohibited) of group therapy, where topics include developing coping skills, introduction to the 12 steps, trauma, disease, triggers, relapse prevention and stress management. Clients have individual therapy once a week.
The outpatient program offers an hour and a half of group therapy two to three times per week. Group topics are the same as those discussed in IOP but individual therapy is not included.
The aftercare program is available to those who have completed an outpatient program or maintained 90 days of continuous sobriety. This group meets once a week for 90 minutes.
The professional staff at HP have impressive experience and credentials. They include a psychiatrist, licensed clinicians, masters level counseling staff and CSACs who collectively provide a variety of services to meet the individual needs of residents. Some staff members are themselves in recovery.
Extras
DUI programs are offered for a length of time varying from three to 18 months. Costs vary.
The PC1000 program is for court-ordered first time offenders. By attending treatment, they avoid incarceration and can have the charges dropped once the program is completed.
In Summary
Healthy Partnerships offers standard outpatient treatment and intensive outpatient with flexibility in the schedule. The length and intensity of treatment is determined by the client and the treatment team.
