Hannah House Ministries Review

Hannah House Ministries in Billings, Montana is a faith based transitional housing program for women who are in crisis and need assistance. This program provides basic life skills along with financial services, job placement and more, and allows the women to be reunited with their children in some circumstances. Hannah House is a part of the community program known as Community Leadership and Development Inc. (CLDI) which, in addition to providing transitional housing services, also offers a number of counseling and outreach programs to the city.

Accommodations and Amenities

The home-like facility can accommodate up to 10 women at once, in private bedrooms that can be shared with their children. Hannah House itself has eight bedrooms; additionally, it has a transitional apartment next door with four bedrooms (with preference given to mothers) that houses two women and their children. The bedrooms are fully furnished with twin beds, a nightstand and some closet space.

Hannah House is within walking distance to several shops, grocery stores, 12-step meetings and counseling offices. The physical Hannah House location does not serve as the primary office and operating center of CLDI. That is a different building (located at 24 S 29th Street). The CLDI office has studio and one bedroom apartment located in the same building, but that is different from Hannah House. The Hannah House Ministries office, however, is located behind the Hannah House.

Rules and Regulations

Though Hannah House doesn’t have a required amount of time that clients have stay, typically they reside at the facility for six to eight months, though it can be longer if desired. Clients have to be at least 18 years old and have been sober for a minimum of 30 days before they can move into the facility.

During the stay clients need to fulfill any obligations that have been ordered by the court. There are also regular drug tests that clients have to submit to and be actively pursuing recovery, meaning attending an outpatient program if necessary, showing up to all court dates, and attending AA and obtaining a sponsor.

Clients also need to get a job within a couple of weeks after moving in, or be attending school. The program is heavily faith based, and is geared towards those who are seeking spiritual guidance, but doesn’t require that each client’s faith be part of being accepted to the program.

In Summary

Hannah House offers a safe and sober environment for women to live as they are getting back on their feet. In exchange, its residents are expected to be actively working towards living a better life and taking responsibility for themselves and their families. This is a generous community that really does reach out to help others, and provide that second chance that so many desperately need.
