Growth Extended Outpatient Review
With locations in Lake Balboa and Los Angeles, California, Growth Extended is a behavioral health organization that provides specific treatment programs for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The facility is Joint Commission-accredited and offers treatment from a variety of evidence-based and holistic perspectives. In addition to its residential treatment options, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) are also available.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff members determine their needs and place them in an appropriate plan. Though on-site detox services are not available, those in need can get referrals as necessary. Day treatment or IOP typically meets for three times a week, three hours per session and may function as a step-down option for those completing a primary care program. PHP, on the other hand, is akin to residential treatment and meets five times a week for six to eight hours at a time.
All programming include individual and group therapy with evidence-based practices including CBT and DBT. In addition to these clinical approaches, the organization also emphasizes a range of holistic methods such as yoga, meditation, spiritual counseling, life skills groups and art therapy. Topics covered in groups include anger management, self-harm, self-esteem, trauma processing, relapse prevention, family issues and conflict resolution. Programs also include 12-step participation and dual diagnosis support including medication management.
The staff at Growth Extended consists of psychiatrists, LMFTs, dietitians, vocational nurses and additional Master’s-level therapists.
Extras
The above programs are available for both adolescents and adults, with separate emphases in each track. Among the separate programs for mental health and addiction are treatment options for clients struggling with eating disorders as well. Those who finish a program can also continue on to aftercare at a stepped down rate, which also includes an alumni group that meets periodically. As mentioned, residential treatment options are also available.
