Fostoria Alcohol Drug Center Review
Since 1974, Fostoria Alcohol Drug Center has provided outpatient substance abuse treatment services 40 minutes south of Toledo in Fostoria, Ohio. With programs not exclusive to local residents, adults find affordable, individualized options. A variety of substance abuse education courses, including accredited DUI classes, are available to adults and adolescents.
Treatment and Staff
All prospective clients must first schedule an assessment, which will determine recommended treatment plans. For clients needing medically monitored detox or higher-level care—such as residential treatment—referrals to other facilities are made. The staff includes CSACs and CSWs.
The 72-hour Driver Intervention Program provides all the components required by the state. Held at a local hotel, the classes are suitable for those with first-time or minor offenses, who are required to complete a substance abuse education program and would like to do it as quickly as possible. The eight-week anger management program is also accepted by most courts and consists of weekly group counseling and education sessions. In both programs, clients learn to identify patterns of negative behavior, their underlying causes and how to make more productive choices.
Education courses are available for both adolescents and adults, with those over 13 able to access services. Programs are offered either after school or on Saturday and are eight hours in length. For underage clients, classes focus on prevention and intervention, teaching them about the effects on the body and long-term relationship and employment consequences. While adults do also study the effects of substance abuse, more focus is placed on underlying causes and the treatment of these. In the family education program, clients learn about why substance abuse occurs, how certain dysfunctional behaviors relate to it and how to develop healthier communication techniques. All classes can be taken in a group or, for a higher cost, individually.
Extras
Drug-free workplace training is offered to employees on behalf of their organization, and provides instruction in the company’s drug-free workplace regulations. Presentations meet requirements set forth by thee Department of Transportation and effectively introduce goals and policy.
