Fort Lauderdale Hospital Outpatient Review

Fort Lauderdale Hospital in sunny southern Florida is a full service treatment facility that provides extensive detox and inpatient services along with outpatient care. Treatment is primarily based on the 12-step philosophy. Affordable and individualized for each person, programming includes group and individual therapy. Fort Lauderdale Hospital prides itself on being an all inclusive community, offering specialty tracks for adults who are advanced in age, the LGBTQ community and adolescents struggling with mental health disorders. Outpatient offerings include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for addiction and dual diagnosis clients.

Treatment and Staff

The outpatient programs, specifically the PHP, are normally implemented as a step-down from residential treatment, though it’s not required for all clients in the PHP to have gone through the inpatient program. There is an assessment done at the beginning of treatment and personalized program goals are put in place. The PHP is the most intensive of the outpatient programs, running five days a week for four hours at a time. The IOP is a three or four day a week track that runs up to four hours per session. These tracks are comprised of group therapy and psychoeducation, and the hospital is flexible enough to let clients work around their personal schedules for the most part.

Treatment in both of these cases is geared towards clients with a co-occurring disorder and offers medication management along with a variety of group therapy options, including art and recreational therapy. There are daily AA and NA meetings incorporated into treatment, and outpatient clients are expected to find an outside sponsor under the guidance of clinical staff.

The staff consists of Master’s-level clinicians who are psychiatrists, psychologists, RNs and addiction therapists.

Extras

There is a fairly extensive alumni network through Fort Lauderdale Hospital, which basically serves as an aftercare program. There are regular meetings and social events, and those who have graduated from the program have the opportunity to sponsor new clients.

In Summary

The outpatient programs at Fort Lauderdale Hospital include a comprehensive list of therapeutic options that can carry on from where the inpatient program left off or simply start one’s journey to recovery off on the right foot. Programming is affordable and truly individualized to provide a supportive place for those who are local to the area or clients who are from out of town.
