Fairwinds Treatment Center Outpatient Review

Clearwater, Florida based Fairwinds Treatment Center offers different levels of outpatient treatment including a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard OP tracks. Fairwinds offers a wide variety of treatment options from the more traditional to holistic to spiritual, all of which are individualized to focus on addiction, dual diagnosis and eating disorders. Treatment is offered to both adolescents and adults struggling with any of these issues within a comfortable and supportive atmosphere.

Treatment and Staff

In some cases the outpatient tracks are utilized by those who have recently come out for the inpatient treatment offered at Fairwinds, and in others clients simply enter into outpatient tracks upon initial admission. Outpatient programming is not available to those who are exhibiting signs of self harm or appear to be in any sort of mental or physical distress.

The highest level of outpatient care is PHP, which is a full time program running five days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. The step-down programs are the IOPs, which are separated into an addiction track and an eating disorder track. For those who are partaking in the addiction treatment program, they attend group or individual sessions three times per week on average, though it can be up to five days a week depending on their needs. In total clients spend around 10 hours receiving treatment and are able to opt for either the day or evening schedules. The IOP for eating disorders takes place three times a week in the evenings for three hours, and typically runs in six week cycles. Clients have weekly individual therapy with a psychiatrist and participate in a series of groups. These include a process group, nutrition group, and psychoeducation. There is also a meal plan form that clients have to keep up with and bring to their sessions.

Treatment approaches are evidence-based and are comprised of a variety of modalities and 12-step support, along with medication management and dual diagnosis treatment. Methods include CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and holistic treatments like art and music therapy. There are regular relapse prevention and coping skills groups, opportunities for vocational training and spiritual awareness. Additionally those in the eating disorders tracks have therapeutic meals and some added recreational experiences.

Throughout their programs clients work with their therapists to put together a discharge plan that incorporates continued treatment for themselves and their loved ones.

The staff at Fairwinds are medical and clinical staff who are highly experienced and specialize in addiction and eating disorder treatment. They are psychiatrists, LPC, nutritionists, RNs and physicians.

Extras

Family therapy is an essential element to the success of each of the clients at Fairwinds. There are regular on-site therapy sessions offered in both an individual and group setting.

In Summary

The outpatient programming at Fairwinds Treatment Center takes each client’s needs into account and in turn offers a vast array of treatment options. The staff members take their time to learn about their client’s experiences and use their expertise to design personalized treatment plans. This is a solid option among the expansive Florida recovery community.
