Everett Treatment Services Review
Located in Everett, Washington just north of Seattle, Everett Treatment Services offers a variety of outpatient programs including assessments, family, group and individual counseling and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). It works in conjunction with court-ordered, deferred prosecution and employer-mandated clients, and also offer relapse prevention and aftercare.
Treatment and Staff
Everett Treatment offers two main tracks of care—Level I and Level II. The first is generally recommended for those with a moderate history of substance abuse and is comprised of a single one–hour group session with a licensed counselor every week for six months (available in both the morning and afternoon). Morning sessions meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am; evening options are more varied, with several sessions available between 5 pm and 7 pm on Mondays through Thursdays. Individual sessions with a licensed counselor are offered every two months in the Level I course. Those in Level II, on the other hand, can expect a one-on-one session once a month.
Level II is a more intense program, consisting of two-hour group sessions with a licensed counselor four days a week. It also means a much longer commitment, with the extended care component of the program lasting for a total of two years. The initial phase of treatment (two daily hour-long sessions four times a week) lasts nine weeks, before scaling back to a one hour a week for another six months. Finally, clients attend one group session a month for the duration of the two years. These sessions are often a chance for alumni to share their successes in recovery with newer clients.
Everett Treatment keeps group sessions small—none are ever larger than 12 clients, and are often much smaller than that. While the facility is 12-step oriented in all respects, AA philosophy is more of a focus in Level II. Dual diagnosis care is not available here, as the facility has opted to keep the focus strictly on substance abuse. If mental health issues become apparent during a client’s treatment, they can offer referrals to an outside agency.
Extras
Everett Treatment Services believes family support and understanding can greatly enhance recovery. With this in mind, they offer a family program that includes parents, children, spouses or others who have been impacted by clients’ addictions. The program has family members sit in on counseling sessions with clients, with further referrals available when necessary.
In Summary
Everett Treatment Services generally caters to those who have not necessarily bottomed out from substance abuse, but are semi-functioning and looking to seek recovery before their problem worsens. With that in mind, those in need of more intensive care may want to look elsewhere. Overall, though, the affordability and length of the Level II program are defining characteristics of Everett Treatment Services. Their facility offers a solid 12-step foundation and a simple, no-nonsense approach to outpatient recovery.
