East Central Mental Health Center Review
East Central Mental Health Center offers outpatient treatment for adults diagnosed with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Treatment and Staff
East Central offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for individuals ages 18 and above. The first step in treatment is an assessment facilitated by a licensed psychologist. Eligible clients may have dual-diagnosis but they must have a primary substance abuse diagnosis.
The IOP is two or three days per week, with a morning and evening option and consists of group and individual therapy as-needed. The daytime program is operational on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 pm and the evening groups meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. CBT provides the foundation for group therapy, and all clients have weekly homework assignments.
Group topics include physical effects of addiction, relapse prevention, communication, family dynamics, and stress management exercises. There are also gender-specific groups and a co-occurring disorders group that focus on dealing with anxiety and depression.
Urinalysis testing is conducted weekly. Clients are expected to find an outside support system such as 12-step meetings or Smart Recovery. Typical duration of IOP is six weeks, unless a client fails a drug test. In these instances, it is up to the primary therapist as to whether treatment is extended or the client is discharged.
The treatment team at East Central consists of psychiatrists, Master’s-level social workers and licensed substance abuse counselors.
Extras
East Central offers therapeutic and educational sessions for family members as an additional service. It also provides crisis intervention and rehabilitative services for those with developmental disabilities. Additionally, as a step down from the IOP, East Central offers a weekly continuing care group.
