Discovery House Center for Hope and Recovery Review
The Discovery House Center for Hope and Recovery is a substance abuse treatment facility that places an emphasis on holistic therapies. Aiming to provide the surrounding communities with effective outpatient care, clients can access treatment from 10 locations spanning across four states—Maine, Pennsylvania, Utah and Rhode Island. With a range of resources as well as numerous supplementary services, this national network of treatment facilities has been utilizing evidence-based recovery methods and providing flexible and individualized treatment since 1989.
Treatment and Staff
For those seeking treatment for opioid addiction, DHC offers Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using either Suboxone or methadone. Prior to beginning detox, an initial assessment is used to determine which medication would best benefit the client. The assessment is also used to develop a unique treatment plan that helps counselors focus their sessions on what each client needs the most.
Individual therapy is scheduled once a week, while group therapy is held three times a week for three hours using CBT methodology. Group sessions cover topics ranging from addiction education and the nature of chemical dependency to relapse prevention, aftercare planning and independent living skills. Family sessions can also be scheduled if desired by the client and their loved ones.
Holistic therapies are also integrated into the program including mindfulness training, meditation groups as well as nutrition counseling and planning. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, but attendance of AA/NA meetings is encouraged.
The staff at DHC consists of LPNs, LPCs, CASACs and CADCs.

In addition to an outpatient treatment program, DHC also offers a variety of other services including HIV counseling, medical examinations, nutritional counseling and referral services.
